Недавно купили — и вот закрывают!!! Студию, которая делает игры уже 29 лет!
К сожалению, прошлый год и (текущий тоже) ознаменовался закрытием студий и издательств самого разного калибра - достаточно вспомнить медленно и мучительно шедшую ко дну THQ и Gas Powered Games, которая, напомним, в итоге была все-таки приобретена Wargaming.net, хотя была в нескольких шагах от банкротства. Сегодня, к сожалению, одной закрытой компанией стало больше - причем речь идет о легендарной LucasArts, из стен которой (или в сотрудничестве с которой были созданы) вышли культовый The Secret of Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic и многие другие. Если верить GameInformer, все 150 сотрудников студии уволены, сама студия закрыта, а все имеющиеся проекты (включая Star Wars 1313) отменены. Тем не менее, Dysney Interactive, купившая LucasArts и LucasFilm в октябре прошлого года за $4.05 миллиарда, планирует использовать и дальше это название, но "это уже совсем другая история".
Тем не менее, как сообщают самые источники, Disney планируется перейти на стратегию "обширного лицензирования" сторонним компаниям, полностью отказавшись от внутренних разработок. Пока сложно сказать, насколько это плохо/хорошо для будущих игр во вселенной Star Wars, но, к сожалению, одной из, не побоюсь этого слова, культовых студий на рынке компьютерных игр стало меньше.
