В Сиднее объявили «катастрофический уровень пожарной опасности». Это произошло впервые с 2009 года, когда ввели новую шкалу предупреждений о пожарах. В двух австралийских штатах объявили режим чрезвычайного положения. Природные пожары уже уничтожили 200 домов, три человека погибли, шесть тысяч австралийцев эвакуированы.
В Новом Южном Уэльсе горят 970 тысяч гектаров, в Квинсленде — 11 тысяч гектаров. Десятки железнодорожных и автобусных маршрутов отменяют, 500 школ закрыты.
Пожары распространились из-за сорокаградусной жары в сочетании с сильными ветрами. Гибнут не только люди, но и животные, в том числе коалы.

Hi Friends and Followers. The Sanctuary is currently safe, but we have had a few close calls in the current bushfires. I did have a truck on standby Friday and Saturday night incase I needed to evacuate all the animals. The highway is still currently closed in both directions. If anyone would like to donate a bale of hay or some money towards getting water trucked in, Im not sure how water will be trucked in at the moment because the highway is closed but the PayPal is in the about me section if anyone would like to help out. It’s been very scary and full on. I have taken on two goats that needed a new home as the previous owners needed to evacuate and they would have been left behind. Tuesday/ Tomorrow is expected to be worse and we a bracing for the big evacuation. It’s been very eerie and a smoke filled orange. I am sending out my thoughts and prayers for everyone that has lost everything including animals. I actually cannot believe what we’ve witnessed over the last few days in Australia. I took this outside our place - it was still daylight, 2 hours before the sun sets. I stopped and stared into the sky and realised how serious a situation we were actually in. We’ve hardly slept in three days and it’s been pretty traumatic. Now we’re waiting to see what tomorrow brings. Apparently it’s going to get worse now we’re in Newcastle.

Kempsey firefighters got a welcome surprise after several tiring days responding to bushfires in the area. Local legend Charleigh came to the rescue, making some delicious sandwiches and cakes for the crew two days in row. Thanks Charleigh!!
